Emil Eve Architects have collaborated with interior stylist Pandita Lorenz from House Like Me on this comprehensive remodelling and extension of a large detached Victorian home in Clapton, Hackney.

The complete renovation of the property favoured natural materials and a warm, earthy palette with an emphasis on sensitive preservation and restoration. Bespoke joinery is painted to match surrounding walls to provide a seamless finish. The original floorboards have been retained throughout and furnished with an array of felt rugs handmade by nomadic people of Kyrgyzstan.

A generous rear extension and patio provides ample dining and kitchen space with a large glass roof, polished concrete floor in a warm buff colour, underfloor heating and natural limewash paint. The handmade kitchen is constructed from book-matched solid Douglas Fir, unique for its pink hue, and paired with a honed Carrara marble worktop and splashback.
The new family bathroom uses graphic encaustic tiles, solid ash joinery and Flos lighting. The downstairs shower room continues the natural palette with Tadelakt walls and soft pink and white terrazzo tiles.
